How MABU PR Originated

MABU Public Relations is the brainchild of founder Mike Mabin, ABC, accredited business communicator. After a successful 20 year career as Director of Marketing and Communications with a regional hospital and health system, Mabin left the corporate world to pursue a dream of starting his own business. He envisioned creating a full service marketing and advertising firm which would strategically-align with independent communications consultants from throughout the United States and beyond.

In 2001, Mabin opened Marketing & Advertising Business Unlimited, Inc. (dba Agency MABU), in Bismarck, North Dakota. The firm has quickly grown from a one-person consulting firm to a full-service agency staffed by a team of writers, graphic designers, programmers and market research professionals.

In 2004, Agency MABU embarked on a pilot project designed to test the MABU PR concept with a handful of affiliated consultants. Six courageous communicators joined with Agency MABU to start their own businesses. Throughout the course of the one-year pilot project, Agency MABU and its affiliated consultants worked out various bugs in the system as a means of designing a mutually-benefical business relationship.

In the end, the affiliated consultants concluded that Agency MABU serves as an invaluable resource in helping them become more marketable and more profitable. Agency MABU also benefitted from the relationship by completing projects in association with affiliated consultants. These projects originated from all across the nation and opened up new markets for both Agency MABU and MABU PR consultants.
